Are they taking the pee? Crooks are stealing portable toilets from unmanned building sites during lockdown spree

Police are hunting a gang of crooks following a spate of bizarre portable toilet thefts during lockdown.  Inspector Rob Offord said the thefts have been carried out across Northamptonshire at random, with charities and building sites among those targeted.  He told a council meeting the force had nothing to go on - apart from the suspects had been mainly striking at night in unattended places without any CCTV. Officers have now advised portable toilet owners, or those hiring the toilets, to secretly mark them so they can be identified if stolen and later found. Staff tired of working from the confines of their home will be able to switch location after one pub offered workers the chance to rent a 'pub desk' at their venue. The Famers Arms in Goldcliffe, near Newport, South Wales, is offering workers the chance to book a three-hour time slot and work from its pub for the price of £10.  The slot, which includes a pub table to work on, Wifi, a power socket, unlimited tea or coffee and a sandwich, will also give workers the chance to have a socially distanced conversation with other pub-goers.  The pub's co-owner Craig Leith said: 'It makes sense. People are stuck at home day-in day-out in the same routine and their mental health is suffering. A teacher was left brain damaged and permanently disabled after a 'furious' attack by a pupil who battered her around the head with a mobile phone, a court has heard. Gillian Stephens was working as a safeguarding lead at Putteridge High School in Luton, Beds., when the violent assault happened. A female GCSE student who suffered from behavioural problems launched the beating on Mrs Stephens, using her mobile phone as a weapon to rain blows upon the teacher's head. A businessman accused of tax evasion was told Sir Philip Green would 'sort out' the BHS pension deficit before the tycoon sold it to him for £1, a court heard today. Dominic Chappell, 53, blames Sir Philip, 68, for the retailer's collapse and maintains he would have been able to pay his taxes 'had BHS not failed', jurors were told. A schoolboy who was shot in the face on his way into classes is no longer in a life-threatening condition. The 15-year-old boy had been fighting for life since being blasted with a shotgun at 8.40am on September 7 on the Grange Farm estate in Kesgrave, Suffolk. But police have now confirmed that his condition is 'stable' and no longer considered to be life-threatening. The husband of a disability rights campaigner, who was found dead in her home, has pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife, a court has heard.  Jackie Hoadley, 58, was found bludgeoned to death at the family home in Eastbourne, East Sussex, in July. Her husband Ray, 62, was arrested an hour later at the residential care home where their two severely disabled children are cared for. A jealous girlfriend 'grinned' as she stabbed her partner to death in front of friends just weeks after biting his testicles in a  savage attack, a court heard.   Cordelia Farrell, 38, from Birmingham, is accused of murdering her partner Wayne Coventry, 36, in a violent rage after he was found dead at his brother's home in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, on October 14 last year.   Just weeks before the stabbing, Farrell had attacked Mr Coventry by dragging him around his flat by his testicles and biting his genitals, Worcester Crown Court heard.
