A Tennessee man who said he was trying to resurrect his dead grandmother caused $30,000 worth of damage at a cemetery.

Knoxville deputies responded to a report of vandalism at a church cemetery on Huckleberry Springs Road around 2.30pm on Monday.

When they arrived, they found Danny Frazier, 34, around broken headstones and several dug holes, reported WVLT

He told authorities he had been trying to 'resurrect' his grandmother who died in 2012 and was buried at the cemetery.

A witness allegedly told police that a homeless man had been loitering in the cemetery and causing damage, according to WVLT.

Frazier was in the process of digging holes and breaking headstones when authorities arrived on the scene.

Damage was originally estimated to be between $10,000 and $60,000 before an official assessment put the bill at $30,00.

Online records indicate Frazier's grandmother was Edna Ruth Frazier who passed away at age 70 in June 2012.

It is unclear if Frazier has any previous criminal history and there is no indication that he is homeless.

However, records indicate he was evicted from an apartment in 2015 after refusing to leave.

According to inmate records, he was charged with two felony counts, one for vandalism and the other for criminal trespassing.

His bond at the Knox County Jail is set for $20,000 and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 19.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office did not immediately return DailyMail.com's request for comment.

The HS2 money pit: Ministers are told first stage of high-speed rail line may cost another £800m... six months after a budget increase saw total costs soar by £20.6bn to £43billion

Ministers have been told that Phase One of controversial rail line HS2 could cost £800million more than planned. It comes just six months after a budget increase saw total predicted costs for the first stage of the high-speed line soar by £20.6billion to £43billion. In a written statement to Parliament, HS2 Minister Andrew Stephenson said half of this figure is due to preparation of the route for construction involving 'more significant challenges than anticipated'. This includes the need to remove more asbestos than expected. Another 'significant cost pressure' worth £400 million has also been identified during the development of designs for Euston station. Mr Stephenson warned that further investigation is being carried out which 'could identify further pressure'. He revealed he would discuss the subject with Education Secretary Gavin Williamson after MPs expressed concerns about children being kept at home for ten days – even after a negative PCR test – because a member of their classroom bubble has been infected.
