The distressing messages from a suicidal 12-year-old girl left homeless and forced into drugs and prostitution after falling through the cracks of a broken system

A 12-year-old girl turned to prostitution, drugs and alcohol after being removed from foster care and ending up homeless.

The child's former foster mum has flagged concerns about the girl's descent into delinquency and youth crime on the Gold Coast since being removed from care.

Alarm bells went off after the girl, who has been homeless for nearly a year, posted distressing messages on social media revealing she was suicidal.

'To all the f***ing people who say I am ugly and worthless and fat. I know I am,' one post reads.

'When I die please don't come to my grave and tell me how much you miss me and love me because those are the exact things I wanted to hear when I was alive,' another reads.

She also shared an acrostic poem spelling out the word 'suicide' including words like 'drowning', 'unimportant' and 'useless'.

Disturbing images shared online show she has been harming herself in a desperate plea for help.

She also shared photos showing her drinking alcohol and smoking.

Distressing social media posts also show the girl has become suicidal, resorting to self-harm and negative self talk

The full extent of her behaviour was revealed in a series of heartbreaking letters from her foster mum to Mudgeeraba MP Ros Bates.

But after reaching out to protective services through a local politician she was told the child was receiving 'extensive daily support.'

The girl, known as 'L' was removed from the foster family she had been in from the age of two until she was ten years old, reported the Gold Coast Bulletin.

From the age of 11, the girl became homeless, living in tents on the beach, and even sleeping in a public toilet as her young life spiralled out of control.

In the past two years L began exhibiting significant risk-taking behaviours including drinking, taking drugs, and cutting her arms.

She also resorted to prostitution, sleeping with men and women without any form of protection against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases.

As recently as three weeks ago she allegedly stole a car from a youth worker, before a friend of hers crashed it the following day.

The decision to steal the car was apparently prompted as part of an initiation among her fellow teen gang members.

Her foster mother wrote the letter to plea for authorities to take action and provide support to the child who had fallen through the gaps.

'Child Safety are prepared to let this child die,' she wrote.

'The disturbing trend of self-harm, suicidal expressions, drug abuse, etc have a two year history with this young girl and all evidence has been sent to Child Safety for their intervention.'

But she said no intervention has taken place, and she wants the girl assessed under the Mental Health Act so she can be given help.

But Child Safety officials told Mudgeeraba MP Ros Bates the child is being 'provided extensive daily support'.

Correspondence from the department's director general advised staff were working tirelessly to provide support and accommodation options to the child.

'I acknowledge the information you have been provided is distressing, however the suggestion the department has failed to intervene and provide assistance to the young person is inaccurate,' the Director General wrote.

They said the safety, wellbeing and best interests of children are paramount.
