Sold! Former AFL glamour couple Nadia and Jimmy Bartel sell their marital home for $3.91million after bitter break-up

The former martial home of AFL champion Jimmy Bartel and his glamorous ex-wife Nadia has been sold in Melbourne, a year after their highly-publicised split.

The former couple put the five bedroom three bathroom property in the affluent suburb of St Kilda West on the market with a price guide of $3.7million to $4million in July.

It didn't take long for the stunning 1904 Federation brick home to be snapped up and was sold on October 3 for $3.91million, despite the current ban on open house inspections in Melbourne due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

Real estate agent Marshall White Port Phillip marketed the property as one of St Kilda West's most elite properties and 'an unforgettable family home' situated on a prominent corner near Albert Park Lake in Melbourne's inner south.

Among its stunning features are a grand formal dining room with fireplace and vaulted ceiling, sitting room with full height fireplace, expansive living and dining room with a gas fire, a French style gourmet kitchen equipped with stone benches and a breakfast bar.

'Breathtaking features from the turn of the 20th century including Baltic pine floors, high decorative ceilings, elaborate leadlight windows and ornate fretwork are beautifully showcased,' the property description states.

Also on the ground level is a master bedroom with open fire, walk in robe and ensuite, along with a second bedroom and a bathroom with claw-foot bath.

The separate children's zone on the upper level once occupied by the Bartel's little boys Aston and Henley consists two double bedrooms, a third bathroom, while a generously sized rumpus room with banquet seating which could also be used as a fifth bedroom.

The Bartels spent almost two years living in the home they bought in September 2017 for $3.76 million before announcing their shock separation last August.

The couple first met in 2008 while attending the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix.

The 2007 Brownlow Medal winner  and Norm Smith Medalist who won three premierships with the Geelong Cats proposed four years later in Mexico.

The couple married in an elaborate wedding on the Bellarine Peninsula in 2014 before Bartel retired at the end of the 2016 season after 305 AFL games for the Cats.

Bartel 36, was romantically linked to Melbourne socialite Lauren Mand within days of  the split.

He and Mand went public with their new relationship weeks later and are still together.

His former wife told the Herald Sun last week she is now 'at peace,' following the end of her marriage.

'I think it's been really a nice time to refocus and just almost sit and be at peace with things and just focus on that,' she said.
