Valerie Bertinelli shares sweet throwback photos of her ex-husband Eddie Van Halen... after the iconic guitar virtuoso died of cancer at 65

Her ex-husband Eddie Van Halen died Tuesday following a years-long battle with throat cancer.

And Valerie Bertinelli shared some of her favorite photos of herself and the guitar god on Thursday.

The 60-year-old One Day At A Time star posted the aged snaps to her Instagram Stories, including photos from the first time she ever met Eddie.

Valerie didn't have much to say about the photos, and she simply captioned the first one, 'The night we met.'

A second picture showed the two met at a concert in Shreveport, Louisiana, on August 28, 1980, which came after Van Halen had had released its first three classic albums.

Valerie, whose thick dark hair was overshadowed by Eddie's massive hairdo, leaned in in the first photo to speak with the guitarist in a crowded room backstage.

In the second photo, she had her arm around his shoulders while he looked playful with an M&Ms wrapper in his mouth.

The two were back on their home turf of Los Angeles, where Van Halen got its start playing clubs, in a black and white photo that was taken at the Forum in 1981.

Valerie had on black leather pants with a button up shirt, a blazer and a striped tie, while Eddie rocked ripped jeans and a long white shirt as he wrapped his arms around her.

Valerie's final photo was taken more than a decade later and on the East Coast, showing her and Eddie with their son Wolfgang Van Halen, now 29, as they went for a ride on a carousel.

Wolfgang, who announced his father's death, would go on to take up the bass and became the regular bass player for the band in 2006, replacing its longtime bassist Michael Anthony.

Fittingly, Valerie let Eddie's guitar do the talking by soundtracking all of the photos to his meditative instrumental track Cathedral, from Van Halen's 1982 album Diver Down.

On Tuesday, the actress shared an adorable throwback photo of herself and Eddie as they posed with baby Wolfgang.

'40 years ago my life changed forever when I met you. You gave me the one true light in my life, our son, Wolfgang,' she wrote.

'Through all your challenging treatments for lung cancer, you kept your gorgeous spirit and that impish grin. I’m so grateful Wolfie and I were able to hold you in your last moments.

'I will see you in our next life my love,' she concluded.

Valerie and Eddie were married in April 1981, and she gave birth to Wolfgang in March, 1991.

The couple later separated in 2001, though it wasn't until 2005 that Valerie filed for a divorce, which was finalized in 2007.

Valerie later wrote that she chose to end her marriage over the musician's ongoing addiction to cocaine and his unwillingness to stop smoking cigarettes after he had already had to have part of his tongue removed due to oral cancer.

The guitarist would later marry Janie Liszewski in 2009, but he and Valerie remained good friends for the rest of his life, with attending his second wedding and him attending her wedding to Tom Vitale in 2011.

The HS2 money pit: Ministers are told first stage of high-speed rail line may cost another £800m... six months after a budget increase saw total costs soar by £20.6bn to £43billion

Ministers have been told that Phase One of controversial rail line HS2 could cost £800million more than planned. It comes just six months after a budget increase saw total predicted costs for the first stage of the high-speed line soar by £20.6billion to £43billion. In a written statement to Parliament, HS2 Minister Andrew Stephenson said half of this figure is due to preparation of the route for construction involving 'more significant challenges than anticipated'. This includes the need to remove more asbestos than expected. Another 'significant cost pressure' worth £400 million has also been identified during the development of designs for Euston station. Mr Stephenson warned that further investigation is being carried out which 'could identify further pressure'. Tests may spare school bubbles from isolating: Children could avoid disruption to lessons by being screened for Covid more often under new proposal

Ministers will explore whether children could take more Covid tests instead of self-isolating to minimise disruption to their schooling. Sajid Javid said he was seeking ‘fresh advice’ on the current policy, which sees up to 250,000 pupils miss school every day. He revealed he would discuss the subject with Education Secretary Gavin Williamson after MPs expressed concerns about children being kept at home for ten days – even after a negative PCR test – because a member of their classroom bubble has been infected. It came as the Children’s Commissioner told how pupils had experienced ‘real trauma’ during successive lockdowns. Sajid Javid said he was seeking ‘fresh advice’ on the current policy where children self-isolate, which sees up to 250,000 pupils miss school every day Dame Rachel de Souza described the class bubble system as ‘very very restrictive’, adding: ‘I think everybody would like it if we could get back to normal, as soon as possible.’ Former health minister Steve Brine tol...
