Lacey admitted the happy news was a shock as she told panellists Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, Coleen Nolan and Jane Moore: 'It was a complete surprise, but a very nice one, which is always nice.'

The media personality also detailed the differences between her current pregnancy and when she carried Dusty.

She added: 'With Dusty, I was quite sick at the beginning. But this time round I haven’t been so sick, which is always nice.

'When you’ve already got a baby, you don’t have the time to think about it because you’re so busy with that one. I forget I’m pregnant quite a lot of the time and then I think, ''Oh, I can’t do that.'''

When asked if she’s managed to stay relaxed during this pregnancy, the thespian confessed: 'I want to say yes, but probably not. I think the only difference is I haven’t had as much time to sit and think about it. But I’m still anxious.'

The former Our Girl star insisted she wants to maintain a positive outlook on life, despite her past fertility struggles.

Lacey explained: 'I think I probably always will be, which I think it’s quite normal for people who have been on the journey I have.

'But I try to stay as positive as possible. It is nice to not have the time to sit and think about it the whole time, because Dusty takes up most of my time.'

Elsewhere in the discussion, the TV star spoke about her husband of three years taking on the role of a stay-at-home dad while she continues to play Stacey Fowler on the BBC soap EastEnders.

She said: 'He’s brilliant, he is so amazing with her. She absolutely adores him and he adores her, so it’s perfect. They enjoy spending time with each other which is lovely. He was happy to stay at home. It’s 2020, so why not?

On Matt being the only man present at the parent and baby groups, Lacey added: 'It’s sad, really, but he seems to like it.'

The Bedlam star went on to address the naysayers who have criticised her for taking a second maternity leave from the show, shortly after her comeback.

She told viewers: 'I had no idea until watching your programme, so I had a little look after I found that out and I was sort of in shock, really.

'I was surprised that people – I was trying to figure out why people were so angry. But at the same time, I have to take it as a compliment that maybe you missed having Stacey on the Square so much that I just take it as a compliment.'

The TV star also admitted her birthday plan is up in the air due to the coronavirus pandemic, stating: 'Because of coronavirus and everything that’s going on and there being so many rules… I would love to have a home birth and a water birth.

'I’m praying for the same sort of birth I had with Dusty, which was just lovely. If I could have that again, that would be delightful. Fingers crossed, my mum and Matt will be able to be there. I don’t know if I could do it without my Mum.'
